Job Description



Candidates will conduct the initial screening of inbound 242-COPS (non-emergency) phone calls to determine which resource they need.  Once the callers need is determined, they will transfer the call or provide a phone number to the caller.The calls will go to a variety of resources such as APD Records, 311, Code Enforcement, Animal Welfare and to the APD screened 242-COPS pending queue for 911 Operators to enter a call for officer response.If determined to be an emergency, they will transfer the call to 911.The answering and transfer of phone calls will be accomplished via the existing telephone system.Employees will wear headsets.  

 

Pre-employment requirements:

  • III-background check completed by ECC personnel.  Name, date of birth, social security and drivers license number will be necessary to complete this data base inquiry.   
  • Drug screen with a negative result  
  • Fingerprints completed via company utilized by APD.  

 

Upon hire:

  • Security awareness training
  • Phone system training
  • Call handling methods and practices

 

The shifts will be varied to support the needs of a 24/7/365 environment.While the shifts listed below are 40 hours per week for ten staff, the option of breaking up the shifts and hours is possible meaning it may be more than ten staff who work at the center to cover the hours. There will also be the opportunity for temporary staff to apply for full time positions and Telecommunicator I (911 operator) or Telecommunicator II (Dispatcher).There are minimum requirements for the listed city jobs which can be viewed at cabq.gov/jobs

 

There are refrigerators, microwaves, a stove and vending machines.  Staff can only have spill proof cups at their work station and with current COVID restrictions, masks are required.    The dress code for ECC is attached. 

 

Schedules (30 minute lunch break during 8 hour shifts-unpaid and two 15 minute breaks paid).  The schedule is attached as well. 

 

*** training for the positions may be accomplished during different hours so more staff can be trained at once.  

 

6:30 pm to 3:00 pm
