RivenRock Staffing is hiring for a GIS Analyst. This is a great opportunity working for one of the largest employers in the state.

DESCRIPTION: Design and implement assigned GIS projects supporting the generation of customized maps and geographic analysis reports; maintain and update geographic data in the City's Geographic Information System (GIS); and provide geographic information to City departments, outside agencies and the public.

1. Utilize ArcGIS software to edit, analyze, model, geocode, and display geographic data in the form of tabular reports and/or customized maps both in static and interactive formats.

2. May develop mapping applications with assigned area for planning operational needs.

3. Meet with end users to determine GIS needs and output format. Design, implement, and monitor assigned projects to ensure client needs are met.

4. Coordinate in the design and development of new GIS database layers; perform database maintenance on assigned GIS database layers.

5. May perform map digitizing and record data from record drawings, plats, and property descriptions.

6. Modify (add, edit, delete) GIS features from various existing GIS database layers.

7. Attend staff meetings as required; coordinate work schedules to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.

8. Maintain awareness of applicable revisions to GIS software; learn new revisions and apply information to GIS tasks and projects.

9. Importing and exporting tabular datasets to and from ArcGIS software and tabular dataset software like MS Excel.

10. Develop and prepare statistical and analytical geographic reports.

11. Provide and/or coordinate staff training.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Associate's degree from a Community College in geography, computer science, land surveying, geographic information systems (GIS), or Geographic Information Technology; and

One (1) years drafting, design or cartography experience

  • Use modern GIS software to add, edit, and modify various map layers
  • Coordinate the maintenance, updating and publishing of various maps
  • Develop, interpret and explain departmental mapping policies and procedures

  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including officials and the general public

Preferred Knowledge

· Principles and practices of GIS Software applications

· Basic principles and practices of cartography

· Principles of records management as pertaining to maps, plats and legal survey documents

· Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers and printers

· Proficient in Microsoft Office products

· Modern and complex principles and practices of database design

· Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations

Working Conditions: Office environment; exposure to computer screens.

Physical: Essential and supplementary functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $19.45 per hour
